    Moisturize and Mind Your Business

    Moisturize and Mind Your Business

Moisturizing is an important step to maintain your skin's healthy cells and to protect it from irritation. By moisturizing your skin, you can reduce your chances of any skin problems arising. Facial moisturizers help balance your skin's complexion and prevent acne breakouts. In the same spirit, minding your business helps to protect your energy so that you can focus on things that are important to you. It shields you from the irritation of the world by creating peace. By minding your business, you prevent problems from arising in the future. My mother always told me two of the most important things in life is peace and clear skin (those aren't the ONLY important things but who wants drama and dusty skin??). It hasn't been hard for me to mind my business, partly because the introvert in me tends to want to be left alone and leave others alone in the process. Keeping my face moisturized hasn't been as easy, but here's what I've tried to try to bring my skin some peace.

frank body Caffeinated Face Moisturiser-I honestly cannot say enough about this moisturizer. I'm on my third bottle of this gem and it's the only moisturizer that WORKS and leaves your skin soft and supple. a little goes a long way and if u use the right amount it doesn't leave ur face oily. it's a super light moisturizer don't get me wrong but because of the moisturizing oils if u use too much it may take some time to absorb. I'm obsessed with the ingredient list I love that it has no dimethicone or any other silicones as most moisturizers do (even the most expensive brands) the one thing I'd like to say though is that the packaging can be upgraded since the moisturizer is super runny if u have it upright, the lotion comes running out and u end up getting too much. however it's not a big deal as I usually keep the tube laying down so when I'm ready to squeeze some of it out, it doesn't come pouring out and I'm better able to control how much I need. :) but I'm so so so so happy all of their face products are in bottles or tubes because that's the most hygienic packaging as well as the best way to preserve all the ingredients. that's how u know frank bod knows what they're doing!!

Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20- So in looking to try out new moisturizers, I wanted a light one with some SPF coverage. I was using the Philosophy' Hope in a Jar moisturizer before this, but I don't believe that was SPF covered. Also, I needed something lighter than that because I needed it to absorb really well if I need to shave. This worked out well for me because it absorbs really fast, and is so light feeling. No residue. Plus, it comes in a pump bottle so I don't have to put my fingers into a pot, contaminating anything. I prefer packaging that takes that into account.

Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Cream Enriched- Shiseido's Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Cream Enriched visibly corrects wrinkles. ReNeura Technology+ improves skin's receptivity while KOMBU-Bounce Complex serves as a natural wrinkle inner-filler, helping to target current and future wrinkles. The silky, smooth texture absorbs quickly to hydrate from within and provides 24-hour moisture for smooth, resilient skin with a youthful-looking radiance. This cream is very moisturizing and will actually help your dry skin feel moisturized for quite a while but not greasy. I have noticed a difference in the areas of my face that needed extra moisture and the smoothing of texture.I highly recommend this product to use either under your makeup for extra dry skin and/or as a night cream to give your skin that extra moisturizer while you are sleeping. I received this product complimentary in exchange for my honest review.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream- This cream seemed like a savior for my dry skin...AT FIRST. However, when I used it, it didn't absorb into my skin at all and literally sat on top of my skin. When I went to rub my face, it'd start to flake and rub off until I just had to take it all off. Not sure why this happened, but it was very disappointing because it did seem moisturizing and thick, which is what I like in a cream. But it sadly it was a bit too thick and mask-like!

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream- I have sensitive skin, so when I use new products I usually breakout. This is due to the chemical used for the fragrance. This product seems to have little to no fragrance, so my skin did not break out. Also, when I got back a day out at the pool, my skin was so dry and damaged from the chlorine and sun (yes I used sunscreen but my face still dried out hmmph!). I used this cream as a quick pick me up, and my skin got quickly hydrated!

It's The Makeup Brush For Me

It's The Makeup Brush For Me

Finding the best brush has been the bane of my existence (now hear me out before you come at me like I'm doing too much) but the day I purchased my first MAC brush and graduated from the world of sponge applicators and scratchy mini brushes that come nestled inside a palette next to eyeshadow or blush, well this was the day that my makeup application changed. I can’t help but cringe when I see pictures of an evening where I attempted my first ever smokey eye with just a sponge-tipped piece of plastic to guide me. No, I'm not posting photos. Now there are many brushes that I love, but below are the ones in particular that when I decided to invest in, things changed. Check this out…

Morphe Delux Buffer Brush-This is a great foundation brush. Prior to this brush, I would always use a sponge. After doing a side by side comparison I learned the brush will give you fuller coverage because the sloughs soak up the product. If you are like me...I hated seeing my $70 foundation being soaked up by my sponge. Don't get me wrong I still use a sponge for some products but for full coverage...this is it right here.

Real Techniques Foundation Blender-Now this one intrigued me (admittedly because of how cute it is). I used it to blend out a new foundation with the intent of blending one side with the beauty sponge and the other side with the brush to see how they compared. I used this brush first and loved it so much that I didn't even bother doing the other side with the blender. This brush did an amazing job blending in my foundation and the cream bronzer I applied afterward. I'm highly considering buying another one these just in case they stop making this.

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Paddle To Perfection Foundation Brush- So I picked this up on a whim. It definitely does help you to have to use less product (which is great) as it doesn't soak it up as much as a beauty blender sometimes can. It makes applying makeup fast so this is great for people that stay on the go. This is my first brush of this kind so I don't currently have any other to compare it to but the bristles are so soft and soothing. I typically use this in circular motions all across my face and then dap my face with a beauty blender to buff out any excess foundation.

Real Techniques Powder Brush- This powder brush has nice soft hairs, it is big which is what I was looking for and it provides me with a very nice finish. All the brushes I have tried out in this line are a very good value and I definitely want to purchase more. So far I have the individual eye brush, blush, foundation, powder and stipple brushes. The only con I can mention is that even though some are designed to stand up on a table, they are a little shaky especially if you bump your table or tap them accidentally. But that isn't enough of a flaw to not use these brushes. I recommend them to anyone looking for good quality, affordable, travel-friendly, practical brushes, from beginner to pro.

Mineral Hygienics Retractable Flawless Face Brush-the one that made me fall in love with powder. I used to apply a hefty dusting of powder with the biggest brush I could find and surprise surprise unless I was having the world’s oiliest complexion day I looked like one big major cake face. I eventually fell out of love with powder and that was that. Until I found this brush, realized that less is more and reaped the benefits of a lightly set, still dewy, but powdered in all the right places, base. This brush was the key. Yep.
